Although I was always interested in art and constantly drawing, I didn’t start seriously painting until after my design degree in 2000. It was during my degree that I was introduced to the Fauvists. I was blown away by their use of vibrant colours and expressive brushstrokes, and as I studied their works, I found my work becoming bolder and more colourful. Their freedom from the traditional rules of colour continues to strongly influence many elements and aspects of my work today.
Working from my South Wales studio, I work predominantly in Acrylic and Oils but occasional use charcoal or pastel as more spontaneous mediums for my portrait and life drawing.
